I DID IT!
Good for you!!! Once we realize we can do things without alcohol it does get easier and more natural. For myself barhopping is never a possibility again. Just stay mindful of the situations you put yourself in and you will be amazed what you can accomplish!!
I know I have to stand on the straight and narrow to keep stable so I am not drinking or smoking ciggs. I found that they do nothing for me. I can't even feel a high from them. So that was a big motivater to stay off of them. I am glad for this because I probaly would still try to do it.
Yah that does make me smile thinking back still. BUT, the other day I thought "well i did good then, maybe i still will now...I only had 1/2 glass of wine. The cercumstances in which I drank the wine were very wrong! Thats a jar to open with the counselor, not here. Anyway, the guilt and shame should teach me from doing that again...I hope.
Oh, Green... there are bigger things to beat yourself up about than 1/2 a glass of wine. You seem to have a good handle on things and WE all need to start a better inner self talk.
(((hugs)))
Feel no shame cause each day is a new day and a fresh start. Start over today and you'll be fine. Thanks for sharing.
All of these things are true, I know that. I just dont feel it because Im still bending rules to my justification. Im still sneaking and technically lying, even if its "small potatoes" What bothers me, is that I cant control my urges to break rules and try to get away with it. When Im around folks who know Im not drinking and probly not smoking, then its easy to abstain. But when left to my own devices more often then not I give in. Afterthat, the high isnt what I hoped for. I just thinkback on what Ive done and sulk.
With the upcoming spring, comes many shinning opportunities. We have good feelings about our gardneing plans and look forward to seeing our thoughts and efforts produce...produce :) Also, Ive finished a rough draft resume and am gathering info on various placese Id like to apply. And, I plan on trying out different fitness classes. Hitting that "goal weight" has made me feel beter about myself. The changes I notice on the outside have been a long time coming, slowly I got there. It was a lot of practice and often not fun. It's also one thing I have accomplished bc i said i would. I see hope for my insides from this.
